MURDER IN THE FRONT ROW author, Bay Area music scene fixture, and all-around madman Harald Oimoen has hammered the bass in D.R.I. for nearly two decades now, about half the span of the band’s existence. He’ll soon have more than a few seconds of new music to show for it. The band that broke the speed record in 1983 with its 22-song Dirty Rotten 7″ EP has ever-so-slowly gotten around to bashing out new recordings. As Kurt Brecht tells the Phoenix New Times: “It’s more old school hardcore…straightforward, without the metal guitar sound.”

We asked Harald to send us a postcard from South America with the details of this upcoming release. As usual, D.R.I. is touring heavily, visiting Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Mexico this month. The West Coast gets its chance live dirty, rotten, and imbecilic in April:
