Welcome, cable TV, VCR, and drive-in cinema fanatics, to a boombox-blasting, battery-sapping countdown of teen comedy soundtrack cuts assembled by Mike “McBeardo” McPadden, author of TEEN MOVIE HELL: A Crucible of Coming-of-Age Comedies from Animal House to Zapped! Every note on this masterful mixtape assaults the ears like the snap of a keg tap, the rhythm of a ferocious food fight, and a wicked sax solo played by a dog wearing sunglasses. This is your Teen Movie Hell mixtape. Construct it carefully, and use it extremely unwisely!
Track 3: Donna Fein—”Midnight Madness” from Midnight Madness (1980)
Come see how good a night can be… when Midnight Madness starts to get to you…
The year before Disney Studios released the all-night college scavenger hunt comedy Midnight Madness, Disney Records hawked the album Mickey Mouse Disco via nonstop after-school TV commercials. Standout tracks on this late-entry mail-order kiddie disco LP were the Donald-clucking “Macho Duck” and “Watch Out for Goofy (He’s a Disco Demolition)”.
The infectious “Midnight Madness” theme song by former Donna Summer and Olivia Newton-John backup singer Donna Fein should have been hawked with the same intensity by MouseCorp back then, and now it blazes on your Teen Movie Hell comp tape for all eternity!
Doesn’t matter what you say, doesn’t matter what you do… you’re gonna play!
Read TEEN MOVIE HELL already!
